Vegetable

In Japan, we have different vegetables to Australia, such as Gobo (Burdock), Renkon (Lotus Root), Satoimo (Taro) etc, that are very difficult and expensive to get in Australia. But these days, we can buy them inexpensively as a frozen product. Yumi will introduce unique veggies, and of course, a different way to cook popular veggies, too.

You can just take one or two classes, and also if you have another dish in your mind, please refer to Yumi.

Class 1  Recommend!
Kinpira Gobo (Burdock)
Kon-nya-ku (Konjac)

Low calories & high fiber
Burdock root contains a fair amount of dietary fiber (GDF, 6g per 100g), calcium, potassium, amino acids, and is low calorie. And it achieved international recognition for its culinary use due to the increasing popularity of the macrobiotic diet, which advocates its consumption. (excerpt from wikipedia)

Konjac has almost no calories, but is very high in fiber. Thus, it is often used as a diet food. The dietary fiber from the root of Amorphophallus konjac is used as a component of weight loss supplements. Konjac supplementation at modest levels has been shown to promote increased butyric acid through improved bowel flora ecology and increase bowel movements in constipated adults.
